Biography

Dennis Hoffman

Owner and Operator of “DENSCARS”

Located at 929 Kryder Road, Mill Hall, Pa. just 5 miles from Exit 173 of I-80 in central Pennsylvania.

Dennis started in the repair of classic cars in 1962 with the repair of a 1950 Studebaker Commander Conv., this car was used for transportation until replaced by a 1957 Plymouth Fury. This project increased my interest in vehicle repair and my projects during evenings and weekends included a 1939 Chevy (paint and minor repairs), 1950 Studebaker Champ Pick-up (engine rebuild, paint and interior), a 1958 Triumph Tiger 250 that was used for summer transportation to college, a 1960 Plymouth Valiant for winter transportation to college (built to Hi-Per 6 with 4 bbl., cam and exhaust). My first commercial repair work was assembling new motorcycles, warranty repairs and routine maintenance. at a local motorcycle dealer. The slow winter months included modifications to the motorcycles and helping with the restoration of several early 60’s corvettes and 55-57 Thunderbirds. After college, a summer in Tulsa, Ok. Included assembling, riding and modifying Ducati, Norton, Matchless and MotoGussi motorcycles. In Tulsa, I also completed the restoration of a 1954 MG TF (top, carbs and electrics) also a 1957 Isetta (door, window and steering). In Utica, N.Y. my experience included training in the machine shop of an induction welding company along with tool and parts design. After relocating to Pittsburgh,Pa., I managed Cycleway Accessories. The work here included maintaining and modifying both street and competition motorcycles. During the winter months I completed a 1950 2R6 Studebaker Pick-up with 12v electrics, Chrysler engine, automatic Trans. and disc brakes.
